An Overall Introduction and the origin of Kenya Overseas Chamber of Commerce and Industry - KOCCI
A brief Outline of the Kenya Overseas Chamber of Commerce and Industry - [KOCCI]: originally founded in 2007 in Paris - France, under the name Kenya Welfare Association Network - (KWAN), serves the promotion of trade, tourism and culture between Kenya and the Diaspora (especially France and the European countries). With a number of member organisations at the foundation convention, KWAN has undergone several phases of evolution relating to different periods of Kenya history. KWAN had initially concentrated its activities to tourism and cultural promotion. During the celebration of the promulgation of the New Constitution held at the Kenyan Embassy in Paris on 27th August 2010, the Kenyan Diaspora expressed their interest in investment opportunities in Kenya. Thus giving KWAN the will to expand its activities and to establish relations with more and more countries in the world and involved in its fold an increasing number of economic entities. After the Diaspora Conference in Paris - Promotes Investment in Kenya held on 22nd of September 2010 at MEDEF Headquarters in Paris, France, Patriot Stephen N. Kinuthia produced a paper advocating a plan for a Chamber of Commerce to the Kenyan Ambassador Her Excellency Ms. Salm Ahamed, the present government representatives, the private and public entrepreneurs. The proposed plan incorporated an information office for business and trade enterprises to use for "consultation, opinion, advice, information, representation and assistance". In October 2010, KWAN decided to rename itself the Kenya Overseas Chamber of Commerce and Industry – (KOCCI) so as to widen its scope of operation to trade, tourism, investments and manufacturing fields.
